It is wonderful to be back from lockdown in this Eastertide as we look forward in hope. Hope was and is the major theme of Easter. The Lord Jesus went through suffering and death out of love for you and me. Many have experienced suffering and anxiety throughout the past lockdown. Some have been through the death of a loved one without extended family and neighbours to celebrate the person’s life in our usual manner of celebrating funerals.
All of this has left it’s mark. At this time between Ascension and Pentecost we are called upon in the scriptures to reflect upon the plight of the disciples who suffered from fear and anxiety who seemed to miss the words of Jesus: “Know that I am with you always until the end of time” (Mt. 28:20).
We, at this time, need to hear and accept in our hearts the reality of those words:
“I am with you always until the end of time”.
The Lord never abandons us. Praise Him.
Amen.
