The Second Sunday of Lent 2023
A heart filled with love has no room for hate.
On the Second Sunday of Lent, we reflected on two lines from the gospel of Matthew, he writes, ‘In the presence of Peter, James and John, Jesus was transfigured: his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light’.
Continuing our theme of ‘The Holy Spirit’, we lit a white candle as a symbol of the Holy Spirit, shining from within Jesus, transforming Him in Light.
As we walk the path with Jesus, we pray, may our hearts be open to the transforming presence of the Holy Spirit dwelling within each one of us.
Reflection
“The Gospel of the Transfiguration is proclaimed every year on the Second Sunday of Lent. During this liturgical season, the Lord takes us with him to a place apart. While our ordinary commitments compel us to remain in our usual places and our often repetitive and sometimes boring routines, during Lent we are invited to ascend “a high mountain” in the company of Jesus and to live a particular spiritual experience – as God’s holy people” Pope Francis
Inspired by love, we must allow ourselves to be taken aside by Jesus.
For a few moments become present to this moment.
It helps to close your eyes as it cuts out distractions and allows you to enter within …
Being still…. doing nothing ….
Relax…..
Let go of any worries... any business...
Allow peace to enfold you….
Gradually peace will bring you to a new awareness
Of your own sacredness…
Here… you are… in Presence
Light enfolds you….
Caresses you….
The Spirit of the Lord is with you…
Jesus says to you, ‘Do not be afraid. I am with you’….
‘Until the end of time…..’
Accompanied by the Holy Spirit walk in the path of Jesus in a new way
Transfiguration
He was transfigured
Before our eyes
His face shone like the sun
His clothes
Became as white as light
I felt sure
That day
He was the Lord!
His light entered
My very being
and
The voice of God
Sounded in eternal tones
I knew
Deep within
God, was among us
We descended
The holy mountain
Stronger
More certain
Walking in
His presence
