Saint Patrick's Day Reflection

This prayer is known as St Patrick’s Breastplate. St Patrick was born around 433 CE.

Read this prayer slowly several times until you are drawn into the flow..

gradually the word will become an experience…

allow the light of sun to shine within …

each new sentence will unfold with its own energy …

Slowly … reflectively say the Christ sentences ….

Richard Rohr with St Paul says “there is only Christ: he is everything and he is in everything’. (Colossians 3:11)

St Patrick’s Breastplate

I arise to-day

through the strength of heaven;

Light of sun,

Radiance of moon,

Splendour of fire,

Speed of lightening,

Swiftness of wind,

Depth of the sea,

Stability of earth,

Firmness of rock …

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,

Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ on my right, Christ on my left,

Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,

Christ when I arise,

Christ in the heart of every one who thinks of me,

Christ in the mouth of every one who speaks of me,

Christ in every eye that sees me,

Christ in every ear that hears me.
